Jersey International Chess Tournament 2025
Nine rounds of hard-fought Swiss chess, headlined by a commanding title defence from GM Evgenij Rozentalis.
The 2025 edition of the Jersey International once again drew a strong international field to St Helier for nine rounds of FIDE-rated competition. At the top of the table, GM Evgenij Rozentalis was in imperious form, cruising to first place on 7.5/9 and claiming the £1,500 top prize. Slovenia's GM Gorazd Mohr took second on 7 points, with IM Terry O'Gorman rounding out the podium on 6/9.
Behind the leaders, FM Kanwal Kalavannan claimed fourth spot on 5.5/9 — and picked up the Best Game Prize for his win over former British Champion GM Keith Arkell, a game singled out by fellow competitor J Rudd as the standout of the week. Elsewhere in the prize list, K Toma took the Lady Champion title on 5.5/9, while GM Keith Arkell claimed the Senior Champion prize on 5/9 despite missing out on the overall podium.
The tournament also ran a parallel Holiday Tournament, open only to players rated under 1900 FIDE or under 160 ECF, giving club and improving players the chance to test themselves alongside the main event.
