Inter Insular

Jersey against Guernsey, for the title of Channel Island Chess Champion.

The Jersey vs Guernsey Chess Championships

The Inter-Insular has been the fixture of the Channel Islands chess calendar since 1931, pausing only for the Second World War and the Covid pandemic. Each year, the strongest players Jersey and Guernsey can field meet across the boards, with the overall winner crowned Channel Island Champion.

Few players have given more to the fixture than Jersey's Philip Le Feuvre, who holds the all-time appearance record having turned out in 57 of the 84 matches played — overtaking John Bisson's long-standing record of 52 appearances back in 2014.
